Team José | #TeamJosé

Team José initially served as a way for José and Jen to keep friends and family updated while also advocating for others living with Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). With his passing, we're transitioning to becoming a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that supports people living with ALS to tell their stories, build community, and live with comfort and dignity.

💝 today's the day

The day is finally here. Friends, family, and colleagues will gather at Central Florida Public Media (formerly WMFE) from 3:30 – 5:30 p.m. for a second celebration of life. If you're in a timezone outside of Florida, that's about two hours from now. As some of you know, I made the difficult decision not to be there today. For anyone else who cannot be there in person, for any reason, you're invited to take a few minutes to remember José today: sit with your favorite memories, light a candle,...

As you might have guessed from the six-week lag since the last update on Team José, I'm still struggling a bit to juggle everything. That said, I do have an exciting update to share! Last week we received the official notification from the IRS that our application as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization has been approved. We'll share more about what that means soon, but we wanted to celebrate this milestone with all of you who have followed along as part of Team José. The second update is that...

❤️🩹 Please forgive this belated and blunt update. I'm shamefully late sharing this news here, but for those who haven't yet received the news, after five years of living with ALS José is finally at peace. A bit more has just been posted to the #TeamJosé blog and your remembrances will be shared there soon, too. https://teamjose.com · 1003 Bishop Street Suite 2700 PMB 51, Honolulu, HI 96813Unsubscribe · Preferences

We've just posted a shamefully belated recap of the Oct. 12 gathering at Blue Note Hawaiʻi and the #TeamJosé auction that followed. As we shared in our last update a couple of weeks ago, José had a pretty severe infection that resulted in sepsis about a week and a half after the event, so his well-being and comfort has been our priority. He's doing much better now and this long-awaited recap includes a ton of photos (+ a few videos!) and is not to be missed. https://teamjose.com · 1003 Bishop...

It's been a busy few months in the lead up to the Oct. 12 event and online auction, coupled with José's recent health scare and related behind-the-scenes imperatives on the home front. Consequently, we've been remiss in sharing that the 2024 Hawai‘i Walk & Roll to Cure ALS hosted by the ALS Network is less than a week away. We've just posted a bit more about the event and how to participate on the blog. xoxo,Jen https://teamjose.com · 1003 Bishop Street Suite 2700 PMB 51, Honolulu, HI...

Readers of the #TeamJosé newsletter and blog may have noticed that José hasn’t been as present here this year as in past years. A combination of his ALS progression and a series of infections have made it harder for him to communicate. I’ve been reluctant to step in but decided that we’re overdue to share a meaningful update which you can read here: Finding our new groove xoxo,Jen https://teamjose.com · 1003 Bishop Street Suite 2700 PMB 51, Honolulu, HI 96813Unsubscribe · Preferences

Huge thanks to everyone who responded to our last message. We've added about twenty more auction items since our teaser announcement and are standing by for a few more anticipated submissions. In the meantime, bidding has opened! If you haven't already bookmarked the site, you can view it here: https://32auctions.com/teamjose And it's not too late! There’s still time to contribute an auction item. Just get in touch with us before the end of the day today (Thursday), and we’ll be sure to add...
